Record a video memory

A video lets your family see your face as well as hear you. It works just like the voice recorder, with one extra step for the camera.

 5 easy steps · about 3 minutes
1

Tap Record, then choose “Video”

Tap the red Record button, then tap Video at the top of the window.

Tip: Video is part of the Heirloom plan. If you don’t have it yet, you’ll see an Upgrade button — tap it to add video.
2

Allow the camera

Your device may ask “Allow camera and microphone?” Tap Allow. This is safe — it only turns the camera on while you record.

3

Get comfortable

You’ll see yourself on the screen. Hold the phone steady or prop it up, and make sure your face is in the picture.

Tip: Good light in front of you (like a window) makes the video look its best.
4

Tap record and speak

Tap the red button to start, look at the camera, and tell your story naturally.

5

Stop and save

Tap the button to stop, watch it back if you like, add a title, and tap Save. Your video is now safe on your timeline.

You can’t break anything. Take your time, and try things as many times as you like. If a recording isn’t right, just delete it and start again.

Nicely done.

You’re ready. The best next step is simply to try it yourself.
