Terms of Service

Last updated: July 13, 2026

These terms explain the simple agreement between you and My Journal Story when you use the service. We’ve kept them as clear and fair as we can.

In short: your memories belong to you. Plans include a 30-day free trial, renew automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel any time. Please use the service kindly and lawfully.

Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and My Journal Story (“we,” “us,” or “the service”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

My Journal Story is based in the State of Utah, United States, and the service is available to people around the world.

Who can use the service

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By using the service, you confirm that you are 18 or older and able to enter into this agreement. You are responsible for anyone you invite to your account.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for activity that happens under your account. Please give us accurate information and keep it up to date. Let us know promptly if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.

Plans, trials, and billing

Some features require a paid subscription. The following applies to paid plans:

  • Free trial. Plans include a 30-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial, and you may cancel any time before it ends.
  • Billing. If you do not cancel during the trial, your subscription begins and your payment method is charged the plan price. Subscriptions renew automatically each term (for example, yearly) until you cancel.
  • Payments. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method for the plan you choose.
  • Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancellation stops future charges; your plan remains active until the end of the current paid period.
  • Price changes. If we change plan prices, we will give you advance notice, and changes apply to future renewals.
  • Refunds. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. If something has gone wrong, contact us — we want you to be happy with the service.

Your content and who owns it

Your memories are yours. You keep all ownership of the recordings, videos, photos, and writing you create or upload (“your content”).

To provide the service, you give us a limited license to store, back up, process, display, and deliver your content to you and to the people you choose — and only for those purposes. This license exists so we can operate the service; it ends when you delete your content or close your account, except for copies we are legally required to keep or that remain in routine backups for a limited time.

You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to record and share it, including the rights of anyone who appears in it.

Acceptable use

Please use the service respectfully and lawfully. You agree not to:

  • Upload content that is unlawful, harmful, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
  • Record or share content of other people without the consent you are required by law to obtain.
  • Attempt to access other users’ accounts or content, or interfere with the security or operation of the service.
  • Use the service to send spam, or to break any applicable law.

We may suspend or remove content or accounts that violate these Terms.

Scheduled delivery and legacy access

The service lets you schedule messages to be delivered on future dates. We will make reasonable efforts to deliver scheduled messages to the recipients and on the dates you choose, but we cannot guarantee delivery, for example if a recipient’s email address is no longer valid.

Because many people use the service to preserve memories for the future, we encourage you to keep your account and payment details current and to let a trusted family member know about your account, so your memories remain accessible to the people you intend.

Privacy

Your use of the service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information.

Service availability and changes

We work hard to keep the service running, but we may occasionally need to perform maintenance or make changes. We may add, change, or remove features over time. We are not liable for temporary interruptions, and we will give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” While preserving your memories safely is our priority and we take strong measures to protect them, we cannot guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that no content could ever be lost. We encourage you to keep your own copies of especially irreplaceable content where possible.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, My Journal Story will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Termination

You may stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you materially violate these Terms. On termination, the license you granted us ends as described above, subject to legal and backup retention.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree that any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Utah, unless the mandatory law of your country of residence requires otherwise. Nothing in these Terms removes any consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your home country.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make meaningful changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. By continuing to use the service after changes take effect, you agree to the updated Terms.
